United - One That Definitely Got Away!

With Uruguay set to participate in the semi-final against Holland this evening, there are several interesting points for United followers to look out for.

Firslty, with the tabloids certain our interest in Wesley Sneijder is genuine it`ll be interesting to see how the Dutchman performs.

Will he show the same silky and classy touches of the five games so far or will he be stifled buy a Uruguayan side that look to frustrate the opposition.

Secondly, playing for Uruguay will be a certain Diego Forlan, a united buy that didn`t quite hit the right spot although since leaving United Diego has dug into that rich vein of form that must have convinced Sir Alex he was the man for us.

Forlan has had a great World Cup and Sir Alex, in a tabloid interview this morning, has revealed he`s been in touch with his former striker, remarking,

"I sent him a text the other day. He`s been fantastic and we`re all proud of him."

"There was never a problem with him at Old Trafford, it was just the combination of him and Van Nistelrooy did not work."

"The boy had other issues, his sister`s health in Spain. He always wanted to get to Spain at some point. The only criticism of ourselves was that we sold him too cheaply."

"He could have been a hero. He was a great lad, a magnificent professional, spoke five languages and was a great tennis player."

Sounds like the perfect reference to me!

Don't think you'll find a single united fan out there who would have disagreed with the decision to sell Forlan when you did, he was a bit of a joke at united. It's funny how sometimes a player doesn't fit at one club, yet can go and be a world-beater somewhere else. Suspect that taggart will lose patience with Berbaflop very shortly, and surprise, surprise, he'll probably go on to win the Balon d'or for his new club. Funny old game eh?

Very true fcb, then again take the positives out of every situation in my opinion. Yea we missed out on Forlan, but then again at least we know we weren't stupid in the first place for signing him.

interesting to see he's said he'll never return to the PL!

Yeah and I hear that Sebastian Veron is doing incredibly well back in Argentina ;)
