United - You`ve Got to Hand it to Vidic!

United - You`ve Got to Hand it to Vidic!

As it turned out, it proved to be an incidental incident that wasn`t that significant on the outcome of the game.

Nevertheless, it awoke me from a quick snooze when Nemanja Vidic climbed high to push the ball away with his hand as Serbia overcame Germany yesterday.

The incident was almost identical to that which cost Serbia the game against Ghana in their opening fixture, thankfully though, this time, German expertise from the spot was lacking as Podolski saw his effort saved.

After the game, Vidic made light of the incident, joking,

"The goalkeeper owes me a big favour for that handball."

"It meant I put him in a position to become a great hero for Serbia."

And as for the result, Vidic enthused,

"It`s a huge result for us after the first game. We were disappointed in ourselves."

"We can be confident and must do the right things in our next game against Australia."

They didn`t play great in their first game, like us. Anything can happen - we need to be focussed and start thinking already about the game."

I wonder if the Serbian`s will scrape through or indeed if they`ll concede a third consecutive penalty in the same bizarre circumstances!

I never saw the game but i love how he can joke about it and see the light side.

They seem to have a decent chance of going through, not sure his goalkeeper wanted the competition though!

What Vidic did (handling in the box) was totally unacceptable and it was utter embarrassment to the accomplished Man U senior player. It made me think that may be it's time to cash in on Vidic and bring young players like Simon Kjear, Neven Subotic or Giorgio Chiellini, before it's too late. Vidic has expressed interest to move away from Old Trafford this season and the likes of Real Madrid, Man City and Inter Milan are willing to buy. He has only two years left on his contract and he's nearing 30. On the other hand, United is in dire need for money and new blood in the team. There's need for a creative midfielder in the mold of David Silver, a defensive midfielder like Danielle De Rossi, a prolific striker like Louis Suarez, and an excellent stopper like Manuel Neuer. Money!!!
