United - Rio is NOT going back to South Africa!

United - Rio is NOT going back to South Africa!

Best intentions and all that!

It had been suggested that Rio Ferdinand, once he`d received some treatment on his injured knee, would be returning to South Africa.

Rio had hope to return to the England camp to offer moral support to the troops, but the medical team at United have now decided that would not be wise with a spokesperson commenting,

"Rio has been assessed by club medical staff at Carrington this week and is making good early progress from his knee injury."

"Medical staff have advised a two-week recuperation period with his family before returning to Carrington to complete the rehabilitation process."

Part of me reckons that`s by far the better option!

Can he rejoin the squad after the two weeks ... assuming we're still in the World Cup.

Good! He needs a proper preseason with us, maybe even help Smalling settle in.
