United - England Expects!

With the action, for England, finally set to get underway in outh Africa tonight, it`s fair to say that the nation expects.

Nothing more than a win, for England, tonight will suffice and the nation will be looking towards a certain Wayne Rooney to put the United States to the sword.

Rooney, still only twnety-four, something many people forget, will be living under the microscope in each game but ahead of the opening fixture tonight the England manager, Fabio Capello, has implied that he doesn`t, on the back of the swearing incident earlier this week, want Rooney to change anything about his game, remarking to the assembled press corps,

"I want to see the English spirit of the team that I saw in qualification for the World Cup."

"Rooney played all the games in qualification and he had no problems with the referees."

"I hope it will be the same Rooney in the World Cup."

"I have spoken with him but Rooney is a fantastic player because he wants to win. The agression of him is really strong, but we have to be careful - we have ot respect the referees."

Just point Wayne in the direction of the pitch and his love for the game will see him steer us through tonight, you`ll see!

We SHOULD beat USA actually doing it is another thing. The national team never cease to surprise me thats why I only expect us to make the Quarters. However, I still have this faint belief that this year is our year.
