United - Rooney, It Had To Be Rooney!

Last week we ran a poll asking our readership to vote on which of the trio of Manchester United players in the England squad would have the best World Cup.

Sadly, some forty-eight hours after the poll was published, news filtered through that Rio Ferdinand had collected a knee injury in training and the subsequent medical examination had ruled him out of the World Cup.

In hindsight (it`s a wonderful thing I`m told) I should have amended the poll and removed Rio`s name, or perhaps I should have stuck a new poll up if I was more Brian Moore (on the ball)!

But, taking a look at the results of how you voted, it wouldn`t, I believe, have made an ounce of difference because the Manchester United player you believe is going to have the best World Cup is the same player the nation appears to be pinning their hopes on - Wayne Rooney!

Wayne polled 73% of the vote and with expectation levels so high we`re just glad that he`s got such broad shoulders on which to carry all our hopes!

I didnt realise it was for who we considered to do the best at the World Cup all the same though the vote would've been the same.

That might have been my fault, I amended the poll and the title disappeared for some strange reason :-( doh!
