United - A Replacement for Vidic?

I wondered how long it`d be before the Nemanja Vidic is leaving rumours would start up again!

After suffering from the said rumour during the season, it`s once again hitting is firmly between the eyes, whether Vidic will be leaving or not, the tabloids haven`t take long in nominating a replacement.

Hidden away, lurking on a gossip sheet is the implication that Sir Alex has his eyes on the Palermo defender, Simon Kjaer, no price is quoted and we`ve no information on the player.

Could this be one to watch or is it just another piece of gossip!

Its been a recurring rumour however with the signing of Smalling and Evans everincresingly looking like a first team player i can't see it happening.

Smalling doesn't fill me with confidence - too inexperienced!

He has two agents - one of which always says he might leave, the other always says he's staying. When he's fit, he's a quality defender, but he seems to be getting injured more frequently. This is the last summer we could get big money for him and after seeing how many games he missed last year and the fact that we still had the best defensive record in the league, I can understand the club cashing in. If you can sell Vidic for £30m and buy in Kjaer, Cahill, Chiellini or David Luiz for around half that price its probably worth it. On the other hand he might just be looking for a contract closer to Rio's.

In all fairness the only way to gain experience is to play. Will he get much first team experience if we sell Vidic just to buy a replacement who would hinder his chances.

Sounds more like a contract threat to me....
