United - Scholes on His Decision!

United - Scholes on His Decision!

As the clock counts down and the 2010 World Cup is almost upon us, Paul Scholes has opened up about why he turned down the chance to return to the international fold.

Scholes, a very private character off the field has spoken to the local media and opened his heart on why he couldn`t go, remarking,

"It`s a big decision and I wasn`t really given enough time to think about it, so I decided not to take up the offer."

"If they`d have asked me earlier I probably would have accepted."

"I haven`t been involved for a long tome. It wasn`t a case of wanting to go on holiday, it was the fact I got the call so close to the tournament."

"Also I didn`t want to take the place of someone who helped England get to South Africa. The idea just didn`t sit comfortably with me."

A conscience, something not many Liverpool players have. Scholes is great and would've been good for England to have but he's not wrong in saying he didnt want to go because he felt like he was mugging someone off, very noble.
