United - And in the White Corner!

United - And in the White Corner!

Likely to be marking Wayne Rooney in our opening game of the 2010 World Cup is Jay DeMerit.

DeMerit, who plays for Watford in the championship, has previous experience of playing against Wayne Rooney and believes he has a plan to thwart our most potent striker at international level.

Aside for the usual wind him up comment, DeMerit reckons the key to success against Rooney is to match him for speed when he`s commented in a red-top,

"The team know that you have to try to wind Rooney up. But it`s not so easy to do as people think. He is learning to deal with it."

"I`m sure I will be having a week of Wayne Rooney this and that. How to stop him? Yeah good question! I have thought about playing him and I`ve been fortunate enough to play against Rooney a few times, so it`s not a brand new thing for me."

"Rooney will be trying to get in behind and he is very sharp. If we can match him for speed and pick up things behind us we can make it hard for them."

Jay DeMerit versus Wayne Rooney, I know where my money going where`s yours going?
