'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United - Disappointing News!

Tonight could have been interesting!

I say could have been because the scheduled television programme I`d been intent on watching has subsequently been cancelled.

At 20:30 hours tonight, on BBC1 on Panorama, there was going to be an expose on the current financial state of our football club and the current, ongoing green and gold protest.

Unfortunately, due to the horrific events that took place in Cumbria last week, the scheduled programme has been moved to accommodate an investigation into what went on in the mind of that lunatic.

We`ll do our best to inform you when the reference expose is going to be broadcast.

Nothing, except that you lot have 200 million more debt than what was reported and that the Glazer's are in serious trouble- United are their only source of cash due to their malls in the US all losing money, hence their unwillingness to sell. 1.2 billion or something in debt, I think. Don't think it's true, though.

From what I've read it doesnt seem like there will be anything particularly ground breaking about United. Its long been suspected that the Glazers property business was in trouble - now there is definitive proof. It just means that despite their insistence that United will not have to pay for the PIKs - we probably will (unless they sell the NFL team). Seeing as every major media outlet only refer to our debt as being around £700m anyway (which includes bonds and PIKs) its really nothing new. Worst case scenario they start selling off the clubs assets to rescue the other businesses - Best case scenario they cash in on Utd whilst its value is high and go home.

Seems they are not willing to do that 'cos this is the only venture which actually gives them a steady profit..

lol - how the mighty will fall :-)

how much? tell me again, it's staggering!

The notion that the property business is in trouble isn't the whole truth. The bbc (who I'm led to believe broke the story) forgot to mention that while they have £1.1 Billion in debt as a business they have about £3 billion in assets. Non story in my opinion.

I posted a link earlier on on the Berbatov moving to the Serie A rumour article if anyone wants more information on the Glazers and our debt. It links to BBC sports website so it is officially from the BBC making it that much more liable.

zaeem - I agree, its quite funny how much doom and gloom is flying around. I would take on the glazers financial situation in a heartbeat. The valuation of their property is entirely speculative and worth more than twice as much outside a recession. They have an NFL team which they have run into the ground which is still worth $1billion. They also own the most famous and valuable team in the worlds most popular sport, which they will have essentially acquired for nothing. I cant imagine they are crying themselves to sleep at night.

Yeah, they are weeping all right :O owning one of the biggest brands in the world, profit making i might add and real estate worth thrice that is very sad indeed. I don't think they are going to sell, they can use the club to reduce the debts and still make a killing on it after a few years. Why settle for a smaller profit now?

They partied on the Titanic as it was sinking too lads. :-)

A Leeds United all again - then the rates will desert.

Nani is out of World cup! Sad, the guy was playing so well for last few months for you........

This WC won't be as exciting as I first thought,I never imagined there would be so many injuries before the start.

All the better for us, a player in form out to remove some of his frustration of the WC the next season.
