United - Arteta Swoop?

The tabloid press must be struggling for decent storylines as they await the 2010 World Cup to commence.

Today the Daily Mirror carries a suggestion that Manchester United are about to test the resolve of David Moyes to keep his Spanish midfielder, Mikel Arteta.

The implication is that Sir Alex might try and capitalise on the fact that Arteta is stalling on a contract extension by offering £10 million for the player.

But the article carries very little in the way of concrete evidence that it is anything more than a regurgitated rumour, in fact a rumour we`ve already covered this summer.

We`d be very surprised if this were to come to anything!

for me arteta is a top quality player who perhaps needs to be challenged at the next level. not sure about a move to united, but I think he needs a fresh challenge and at 10m would be a bargain.

At those prices, with his quality and Prem experience, he would be a good buy! He would fit in quite nicely in the midfield.

Would be surprised if everton were to give him away at that price.

10 mil is pretty cheap for a player of his quality. Another signing who wouldnt be the worst espicially for the money quoted.

On another note, Krasic's agent has said that he would cost about 15 mill, that sounds like a good deal too!

Moyes is a tough negotiator and any team which tries to snatch Arteta will have to pay nothing less than 15 million. Maybe even 20 million if Citeh come calling. 10 million is impossible unless a player is also offered in exchange.

If they can squeeze 24 mil out of City for Lescott, they would never settle for a mere 10 mil for their talisman,he's an excellent player,10 mill would be ridiculously low.
CoxintheBox
He would be really good, our set-pieces will be much better if we can get him but I do agree that the price quoted won't be enough to get him to Old Trafford.
