Fergie U-Turn

Fergie U-Turn

Having taken flak from all quarters, Sir Alex Ferguson insists he wants Wayne Rooney to go to the World Cup with England.

But the Manchester United boss has claimed it will be 'impossible' for England's star striker to play any part in Germany unless a scan shows his broken foot is fully healed.

Ferguson: 'The next scan is the key one. Hopefully, by June 14, the fracture will have healed. If not, it will be impossible.

'On day one we promised the boy we would do our very best to get him to the World Cup. That is exactly what we are doing.

'But obviously, there has to be an improvement. There has to be a complete recovery.'
