United - Can He Deny Rooney Again?

All eyes are now beginning to focus on the 2010 World Cup!

Where we can, wherever there`s a United influence, we`ll do our utmost to provide you with all the latest gossip and news from South Africa.

Ahead of our last match before departing for South Africa, a friendly against Japan in Austria, one of our Group opponents, Algeria, players has spoken about the taming of Wayne Rooney and how he`s done it once before and is confident of doing it again.

Madjid Bougherra, currently playing for Glasgow Rangers but expected to form the backbone of the Algerian defence in Cape Town on June 18th when our paths cross, has remarked,

"I`ve been looking forward to tackling Rooney. It`s the ultimate test for any defender, just as tough as facing Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo."

"But I like these moments when I play the best players in the world as I learn more."

"I`ve watched Rooney on TV, now I`m looking forward to playing against him once more."

"I faced him when Charlton were in the Premier League. After moving from Sheffield Wednesday in January 2007, I only played five games in England`s top flight."

"But one was at Old Trafford and I can tell you I managed to keep Rooney off the scoresheet!"

"I`d love to do it again when we face England"

Now we don`t want to disappoint you Madjid but Rooney is a far different animal now and, as they say, lightning doesn`t strike twice, we`re confident he`ll have you tied in knots!
