United On Arteta Watch!

If Sir Alex is deadly serious about strengthening the squad in preparation for grabbing back the Premier League title next season, he could do worse than land a player a red-top has us linked with this morning.

The Daily Mirror contains an article that implies that Mikel Arteta has entered a stage in his contract negotiations, at Everton, whereby they`ve stalled.

As twenty-eight years old, Arteta is in the prime of his professional career and is back to his best form after recovering from a serious knee injury.

His guile, his passing ability and his all-round general play would, in our opinion, make him an ideal acquisition for Sir Alex.

The article goes on to suggest that other clubs, most notably Arsenal and Manchester City, are monitoring the situation, but could they beat the lure of playing for Manchester United?

We think not!

Good player, proven in the league, adds to the creative side, should be cheaper considering that he is discussing contracts and can take Pens too! Would he be okay with being rotated though? He already has a high profile at Everton.

Lure of MUFC lol do you mean the millions of pounds in debt or the American owners or the lure of Alex Ferguson quitting sometime in the not so distant future and the club falling apart when they can't make the champions league. Players are wanting to get away from United. Ronaldo and Tevez are just the start. I always think it is funny when MUFC think they can steal other players. Once upon a time maybe but not anymore especially a team like Everton who have a better squad than United. United are coming to an end, their players are getting old and can't be replaced. They are desperate to get their hands on the likes of Arteta, peinar and Rodwell but they won't get a sniff at any of them. Everton can hold on to their players nowadays. Won't be long before the blueboy Rooney will be wanting to come back. United came second in the league this year, next year they will be second in the city of manchester. Any decent players that do come on the market will be snapped up by either the Champions (Chelsea) or by the best team in Manchester (Man City). Next you MUFC fans will be saying Ronaldo and Tevez want to come back. MUFC Failures.

We could do a lot worse than signing him.A very underrated player in my opinion.

blueboyjohn1, I wouldn't mind a bit of whatever you are smoking!! And not the same debt line again, it's becoming a drag! I'll chew on my balls before Rooney comes back to Merseyside. We are not desperate for any of your players, the only potential in your team is Rodwell and I am not desperate for us to sign him either! I would have liked to go into each of your delusions, i figured my time would be better spent! All the players we have are way better than your first team and don't forget you are the ones snapping up our seniors and rejects, dream on! And what exactly is it that you offer players?

Arteta is a good player who could do a decent job for us. If we sign him it will be because Silva, Modric, Hamsik, Gourcuff, Jovetic, Krasic, VanDerVaart, Banega, Toure and Milner are all too expensive or not for sale. Arteta wouldnt be a first choice target for any top four team and neither would pienaar. Both would make good, solid squad players though. Rodwell looks a good player and I think most of the top four would like a player of his potential. However, with Chelsea, United, Arsenal, Spurs, City, Villa, Liverpool, Birmingham and Sunderland all likely to invest and strengthen this summer - I can see everton struggling next year unless they get some investment too. In which case, Rodwell will probably be a lot cheaper next year.

Good player, but David Silva has said he would not deny United if they came calling. Silva any day of the week. I would also argue Vucinic should be thought of if Berba is to be sold off.
Paulinho
what about huntelaar?
Chelsea24/7
BOOOO!!!! No Huntelaar for me thanks! If you could take the worst parts of Michael owen and the worst parts of Dimitar Berbatov and create one striker out of them you'd end up with a slow, predatory target man with a good finish but absolutely no other redeeming qualities. He has no pace, no touch, no skill, cant pass, no vision, cannot play on the and would not get into the team ahead of Rooney in a 433 - therefore he would be absolutely useless here.

To summarise - NO.

No Huntelaar, please!! Rather have Bobby Z!
