United - Giggs on Goals!

United - Giggs on Goals!

As the last of the player inquests hits the tabloids before becoming tomorrow`s chip paper, Ryan Giggs has come up with an interesting angle.

Giggs, who recently signed a one-year contract extension, has spoken about the need for other members of the side, apart from the prolific Wayne Rooney, to hit the net with regularity, remarking,

"It was unfortunate for us that Wayne got injured at a really important part of the season, because we`d relied on his goals more or less throughout it."

"So to get to the business end of the season and not have him, then to have him for one game without him having really trained wasn`t ideal."

"But whether the manager does or doesn`t bring in any other strikers this summer, the other players know we need to score more. Whether that`s defenders coming up for corners or midfielders chipping in we all need to contribute a lot more."

Now when you consider our conquerors, Chelsea, had Didier Drogba in their ranks with 29 Premier League goals followed by Frank Lampard with 22 plus Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda also well into double figures, he definitely has a point!

We need our mid fielders getting into scoring positions more often, we have good wingers to pop in crosses and can't rely on only Rooney to take advantage of it!
