United - Real Madrid Eye Evra?

After snaffling Cristiano Ronaldo last summer, could Real Madrid be looking towards Old Trafford to lure away another of our players?

The Spanish side, who crashed out of the Champions League spectacularly early, are linked by the tabloid media with a move for our French full back, Patrice Evra.

The media, always keen to stoke a fire, have used the implication that Evra fancies a new challenge despite four trophy laden years at Old Trafford.

Although Evra has two years left to run on his contract, Real feel that a deal could be struck for a fee of around £18 million.

Now the tabloid may very well point out this would give United a good return on a player they signed for a fraction of that fee, does anyone feel that Sir Alex should, quite rightly, give Real Madrid short shrift on this one?

First off, I don't think he is going anywhere unless Fergie does not want him here. And if he does go, we are talking about one of two left backs at the top of the game and we should get 25 + for him.

If patrice goes there is no way it would be for less than £35m. There are probably 2 left backs in the world who could claim to be close to his level right now. £18m is a joke unless they plan to give us benzema plus £18m.
tuscan3000
stranger things have happened, besides do defenders command such high fees?
Red Boy
I agree with tuscan, and if we do sell him we should do our best to fleece the Galacticos™!! And he is not just a defender, his constant forays up front mean that he is valued for both sides of his game. If a Bale is deemed 20 mill player :O then Evra is worth twice that! All this is beside the point, he is not going anywhere, probably even be captain after Giggs goes.
elvido
Yeah, based on his comments he wont be leaving United a loser. If we do the treble next year he might think otherwise.
tuscan3000
It looks highly unlikely that he will leave,I have never heard him speak of his dream to join any club,so there is no need for us to sell as he has been one of our best players,so if its our decision, then I hope its a big no.

I highly doubt Evra would join that mob. Evra is a great player and will retire here.

Evra is no ronaldo. He's not the glamorous, celebrity type. He'll stay with us. In any case, everyone is spot on. 18m is nowhere near enough. Defenders shouldnt be worth so much but with the latest boom in transfer fees after ronnies departure, evra should cost at least as much as dani alves. When bosingwa was worth 20m and ashley cole 30m(?? not sure??), then evra should cost 35-40 he's better than both.

hiya! ...long time lurker, first time poster, here saw Evra & Park interviewed at the OT awards night on MUTV. both appeared very much apart of the united culture and team. seems HIGHLY unlikely (nothing is impossible, of course) that either will be leaving any time soon. Loved Gabi when he was here. Love Evra even more! Regards~Luc LU!HG!
