After picking up a trio of personal awards, in the last ten days or so, Wayne Rooney has had a remarkable season.
In a few weeks time, Wayne heads off to South Africa with the nation hoping that he can play a major part in helping England to play a major part in the 2010 World Cup Finals.
But, if the Rooney of this season has been awesome, then, reading his words in the media, I can`t wait to see the model that's going to evolve in a couple of years,
"I`d like to think I still have my best years ahead of me."
"I want to improve on all aspects of my game - scoring goals, creating goals, my overall play."
"I think there`s room for improvement. That`s why I stay behind every day to practise and become a better player."
"This season has been the best goal scoring period of my career."
"It`s pleasing because it`s the result of a lot of hard work."
"You feel like every time you run out on to the pitch, or every time you`ve got the ball near the goal, you`re going to score."
"It`s a feeling every striker strives for."
As long as Wayne is played through the middle he`ll continue to thrive, it`s when he`s wasted out wide that he becomes nowhere near as significant a force.
Has Wayne peaked or is there more to come?
We`d appreciate your thoughts!
