Real Madrid Striker Targeted by United!

Real Madrid Striker Targeted by United!

With the season coming to an exciting end and an end that could see us, with a little help from Liverpool, win the title for a fourth time, plans are already afoot to strengthen the side next season.

On e best-selling tabloid has proudly proclaimed that our top target this summer is somebody who we`ve been chasing before and somebody that hasn`t exactly set the world alight at the club he chose to join last season.

Step forward Karim Benzema!

Reputedly, Sir Alex is looking to tempt the Frenchman to Old Trafford with a £20 million plus swoop with David Gill confirming funds are available by commenting,

"I can look you in the eye and tell you straight that we have the transfer funds available to the manager. Targets have been discussed already, as you`d expect, but it`s not our style to talk about names and it never will be."

With Michael Owen always injured, Berbatov often misfiring and Macheda still learning his trade, would Benzema be the perfect foil for Wayne Rooney?

Has anyone got any thoughts on this one?

It would be an AMAZING coup but I personally don't see it happening :(

After one season they won't sell him, we may bid for Dzeko or Fabiano if we are looking for a bigger presence up front. I would prefer a goal scoring midfielder who can operate in the hole too.

They might sell him, they behave like a small child, who constantly wants the newest shiniest toy. Benzema isnt shinning as brightly anymore, so ***** Up Madrid might just sell him, the question is, does he want the transfer.. I hope so, I think he would be a great addition.

If Berba really is getting the boot, there is no point bringing in a target man or a second striker - as they too will be forced on to the bench in the big games. Benzema frequently played from the left of a front 3 for Lyon and could do the same for us. In that sense he would be ideal as he could partner rooney in a 442, replace him if hes injured and would still get to play in the big matches as he can play on the left as well. But I doubt we'll get him, Real will not sell and if they do not for a price we can afford.

Since we don't really seem to prefer 4-4-2. Mobile, touch players who can play across the front would be a better option.

I reckon you are more likely to offer permacrock Mickey Owen a further year's deal than signing Benzema. Fergie only has limited funds, and even though Benzema might be the player he really wants (if you believe the press) he's not going to blow 1/3 of his budget on a single player. If you do get a new striker in it's more likely to be a young "prospect" that no-ones ever heard of that might work, or might not.

We took our chance on Ronaldo, that turned out quite all right... I am comfortable with the squad we already have and am not going to lose sleep over any additions. I think a lot of the players will be playing at higher level and we will do much much better.

He'd be phenomenal for us. £20 million would be an absolute steal but I highly doubt Real would sell
