United - Rooney Scoops Second Major Award!

United - Rooney Scoops Second Major Award!

After scooping the PFA Player of the Year award last Sunday, Wayne Rooney added a second major personal award for the season to his portfolio yesterday.

Wayne, who has had a fantastic season and is closing in on the golden boot award as well, was named as the Football Writers` Association player of the season as well.

Speaking about the award, Sir Alex confirmed what we all thought,

"We felt it was a foregone conclusion that Wayne would win both awards."

"And deservedly so, because he has elevated himself to a tremendous level now. There`s a maturity and authority in his game which we see in players in their mid-20`s."

"Unfortunately he`s had a couple of injuries recently, but the award is based on his performances over the whole season, and it`s been a terrific year for the boy."

Wayne polled an incredible 80% of the votes cast and just like with the PFA award, finished ahead of Didier Drogba.

Although I'm dispapointed Drogs didn't win it, it's a better choice than Giggs was last year!
