Watching Bayern Against Lyon Is Heartbreaking

I felt I got over going out of the Champions League and I was fascinated by Inter's win over Barcelona - they deserve great credit for a gutsy performance - but the wounds are evidently not healed. Watching Bayern v Lyon was like having my heart torn out and not just because it was an awful game.

It's still difficult to get over the fact that we were easily the better team over the two legs and should have gone through but for an extremely unlucky goal (Olic's, right after Nani seemed to put the tie beyond them, it gave them hope) and an extremely harsh sending off.

Oh, and another reason: this Lyon side is so poor, United could have savaged them, even in our present state. We could have played in three consecutive Champions League finals which would have been amazing. Time to get over it, I know, but it's bitterly hard to swallow.

not trying to be disrespectful to anyone on here but bayern dominated you in the first game and go very unlucky not to have shut you out...you may say olic goal was a fluke but what was rooneys of a defensive slip? bayern did score lucky goals but outplayed you by there fair share in the 1st game....on the hand in the second game you dominated them until the sending off after 50 minutes...which is not really enough to say over the course of two games....yes it was harsh sending off but he should know better then to do such an idiotic foul with already having a yellow! id say it was a 50/50 and you cant be gutted because outside of bayerns defensive being a complete joke they have a really good squad

I couldn't bring myself to watch any more European games after the way we went out! It's very bitter mate!

Goals win games! Simple fact! Whoever scores more wins!!!.... Don't be bitter, we've won alot of games we haven't deserved also.Bayern played us off the park in '99 and lost 2-1.

I couldn't bring myself to watching any of the games either, its so hard going out on the away goals rule, especially when the last goal scored was the sort of goal a player is extremely lucky to get in their careers. I'm just glad Barca was beaten and that we will be there next season where hopefully after a summer full of new investments we will be able to improve on this seasons position.

Guess the Rafael sending off and the manner of the second goal was just too much to swallow after the start we had to that game! Well.... Hope there we lessons learnt!

We paid a high price for not playing well in the 1st leg against Bayern at the Allianz Arena- we ARE as good, if not better, than them, and I'd fully expect us to have seen off Lyon in the Semi-Finals. That said, Barcelona are the best team on the planet right now, and I'd still fancy them to overturn the deficit and beat Inter by the required amount next week. I think we'd have gotten through to the Final again, but winning the trophy is still a 'big ask' given the quality of the opposition we'd have been facing.

We didnt deserve to go through. Gary Nevilles ridiculous handball and Michael Carricks woeful attempt at defending are not the kind of things you expect from European semi-finalists.

In a way we have already over achieved. We needed this loss to figure what our priorities are for next season. I am not saying we didn't deserve more but there are a couple of big holes we need to fill yet!

Heartbreaking..? Definitely not as heartbreaking as watching Barca in 2009 CL finals :-(
