Hargreaves Back In The Fold!

Owen Hargreaves is now at the penultimate stage of his comeback: he's started training with the first team instead of spending some more time with the Reserves. It is now all about sharpness and stamina and he will be carefully monitored in the coming days to determine when he can return to first-team action.

Sir Alex said: 'He`s going to be training with the first team and we`ll see where that takes him. We`re keen to get him back involved because he`s an experienced player and will be a valuable addition for us in the run-in, when having a strong, fit squad is vital.'

Sounds great - but does he actually believe that Hargreaves can make a meaningful contribution after 18 months on the sidelines? I doubt it, to be honest. A few substitute appearances, maybe, but I'd be very surprised if he managed to start a single league game this season.

as a chelsea fan, all i can say is uh-oh. but as an england fan, this is great news!

This season at best will be about getting him in shape for the pre-season. I cannot see him taking part in too many intense situations any time soon. Still, it will be great if we see him out on the park, playing!

I'm not sure about this. Why would not playing for the reserves help him get into the first team quicker? Unless he is doing sessions with the first team to prepare him for a subs appearance against bolton; I can't see why he'd be denied the opportunity to get some form of match fitness with the reserves.

Its about f****** time. Lets hope he can play at the level we all expect of a player of his calibre

Too late for WC - but hope he can help us win 4th consecutive title :)

I really don't care about the world cup but hargreaves is a huge player for us when fit and he has to handle himself very carefully because another breakdown here and he may have to kiss good bye to his footballing career,so he just has to get himself fit and repay Utd first and if he plays any part in these last games of the season, then thats a bonus.

Hopefully in a weeks time we arnt told its delayed again. Seriously though im happy his back but as the team is on form and everyones loving their football how will he fit in?

Don't expect him to start straight away, most probably will be used as a sub in the beginning and then given the odd game to start.
