Hargreaves To Be Back In April
Sir Alex Ferguson advised Owen Hargreaves to forget about going to the World Cup - right now the most important thing is that he should finally make an appearance for the United first team after featuring for the Reserves on Thursday.
'We deserve some service out of him,' he answered when journalists asked him about Hargreaves' World Cup chances.
'You talk about World Cups he has been out for a year and a half! There is nothing wrong with talking about it but he should be concentrating on playing for United and he will do that.
'His comeback is a big boost to the boy. I am delighted for him. He has been out of the game for 18 months, which is very difficult.
'We had experienced of this long interval without playing with Gary Neville. Gary proved that you can come back. Owen has the advantage of being a younger man.
'Hopefully now he is back for a continued period. He will need a couple of games more with the reserves. After that he should be back in the first team squad. It is a good one to get at this time of the season.'
Which means that he could be back in April, possible for the last 4-5 league games. If that is the case, we might come to regret his omission from the Champions League squad. Who knows?
But this World Cup talk, this is really stupid. Is Fabio Capello the kind of coach who would take a man who hasn't played for 18 months? I doubt it.

I think if he plays in the last three games of the season, Fabio will put him in the preliminary squad, watch him in the pre-tournament friendlies and then decide. To be fair his competition is Gareth Barry - I'm pretty sure just turning up will be enough for Hargreaves to take his spot.
