34 Years says: it's calling out for the Neville boys!
Is anyone else thinking along the same lines as me?
With Fabio Capello`s 2010 World Cup squad being hit by injury after injury, could we see a summer sojourn for one of our most faithful servants?
Already there are major doubts about whether Ashley Cole will be fit to make the tournament in South Africa and with Wes Brown suffering England`s obligatory metatarsal injury; the full back positions are already giving serious cause for concern.
Over on the left flank, the obvious replacement for Ashley Cole, Wayne Bridge, has offered a reluctance to become involved preferring to immerse himself in pity after the John Terry saga before a hernia operation cast further doubts about Fabio`s powers of persuasion in getting him to change his mind.
That leaves us with Leighton Baines and Steven Warnock as likely candidates. Both are competent players but still very raw.
So how about we look elsewhere, how about we give one final fling to two players who have been there, done it and never let their country down?
Step forward The Neville Brothers!
Our own Gary has plenty to offer still and his brother, Phil, although an Evertonian, is a vastly under-estimated and capable defender.
Fabio, you could do worse my friend!
