Owen: I Love It At United

Michael Owen wants to stay at United, despite rumours that he'll be one of the first to leave in a big summer clearout. Fergie said earlier that he did not want to sell the striker who will miss a few weeks with an injury picked up in the Carling Cup final after scoring United's equaliser.

'I am loving it at Manchester United.

'There are plenty of people who want to put negative spins on things.

'I have four kids, I am living at home and playing for one of the best teams in Europe. It is not all doom and gloom is it?

'We still have the Premier League and the Champions League to play for, which I have never won so I have every reason to have a smile on my face.

'I am very pleased the manager is suggesting I have done well in my first season.'

Well... I would say that Owen had one very good game (Wolfsburg), two brilliant moments (City, Villa) but apart from these he's been generally poor when he played. Too often it looks like we're man a down when he's on the pitch and that's just not good enough.

Having said that, you can't fault the effort of the men. It's just the actual contribution that, in my opinion, is not good enough. Great goal yesterday though.

'There are plenty of people who want to put negative spins on things.' .... Like your lack of pace, goals, influence and an abundance of injury problems?

Owen is a useful player to have there is no doubt about it, however him enjoying himself here may no be enough to keep him.

It all depends how the likes of diouf, welbeck and macheda perform because if they realise their potential, then we can say good bye to Owen or else he can still stay and contribute and also provide vital guidance to the above mentioned players.

He's enjoying it at manure - or nobody else wants him? My money is on the latter. Speaking of money, two of the three rag aquaintances who were foolish enough to bet that Owen would score more goals than Tevez this season have already paid me. The third is just being a typical rag.

Owen was a very good player. He was picked up for nowt and has had his final year in the Sunshine. We can thank our lucky stars that Sparky kept well clear. Don't expect Owen to start another game this season, hamstring trouble well finish him.
