Diouf Scores Hat-Trick And May Play Tomorrow

OK, Mame Biram Diouf is officially promising now. A hat-trick for the Reserves, of course, is not something to get carried away about (though you may care to have a look at players who had scored hat-tricks for United reserves: Erik Nevland has become a Premiership player, Giuseppe Rossi is at a top Spanish team and Kiko Macheda has scored the winner in a crucial fixture days after netting his hat-trick for the Reserves) but Diouf is in Fergie's plans, that's obvious.

The Senegal striker started the Reserve league game against champions Sunderland and in little over 50 minutes he scored a hat-trick, with three classy finishes. His reward might be another first-team appearance though he was withdrawn with injury after 57 minutes.

'We`re very pleased with Diouf,' Fergie said.

'He`s done exceptionally well in training, he scored against Burnley and last night he grabbed a hat-trick for the Reserves. We took him off last night but it was only a precaution and he`ll feature in my thinking for tomorrow.'

With Berbatov struggling with his knee and Owen looking distinctly uninspiring, Diouf has a real shot at making it at Manchester United. He'll never have a better opportunity.

I hope he gets a chance tomorrow in the first eleven. It would be very interesting to see how he performs over 90mins.

One thing is for sure,Mame Diouf won't be short on confidence,so I think it will be a very good opportunity for him to impress Sir Alex and who knows last year it was Kiko, this year it may be Diouf who could help us in our title charge.

IF he plays then would hope to see a goal or two from him, if not then nowt to worry about - I wanna see Obertan do well this season

Four goals in about 80 mins of football is not a bad start. In all honesty, I'd rather see him on the pitch than owen. His height, strength, pace and positioning make him completely different from anyone we've had up front recently and on paper is absolutely everything we've been looking for to partner wayne rooney. With his pace off the shoulder, Wayne and Dimi would have a field day playing off him. But its still early days and we'll have to see how he handles the pressure of being a starter first. If he can settle and show that he has the technique and first touch of a premier league player we might have a gem. Reminds me of Eto'o without the massive ego.

Really good news. I hope he can show the world that you don't need to spend over-the-top sums of money to get a good player in this modern age.

Very impressive performance today.Rooney was fantastic but that is something all Utd supporters expect from him but what was so good to see was Nani's performance. He was excellent throughout the game and hopefully this is a sign of things to come from him.Keep it up guys.We are on top and hopefully that is where we will end this season.

If Nani can build on this performance, then he will be like a new signing for us and who knows he might just manage to convince Sir Alex that he deserves another chance.Nobody doubts his talent, that was always there but to perform match after match that is something that was missing.Hopefully he will correct that and fire on all cylinders from now on.

Man City-Thats the next objective. One game at a time that should be our mantra and everything else will be fine.Glory Glory Man Utd.

City will face a Utd team very hungry for the win, and after today a team with a lot of confidence - lets hope little Tevez goes off early on injured!

I really hope I'm wrong, but watching him at Molde showed me two things: 1. He's a great player for Tippeligaen (Premier League of Norway) 2. He's not good enough for United and will never be. I think Fergie has gotten this very wrong. Rooney is our regular superstar. Berbatov and Owen are our proven goalscorers. Macheda and maybe Welbeck and King is the future. Now Diouf has come in and for our great talents that means no playing-time... So, I'm really *****ed off about this... It's plain and simple stupidity!!!
