Fergie: Tevez Is Not An Issue

Fergie: Tevez Is Not An Issue

I feared this when Tevez started performing for City: now we're treated to an avalanche of opinions by pundits and fans, all saying that what a mistake it was to let him go and keep Berbatov. Well, Fergie does not agree.

'What Tevez is doing now is not an issue for me,' he said.

'We made a pitch, he didn`t take it, and he went to City. It`s no problem for us, we have moved on.

'It`s not the end of the world for us. He`s done well and so be it, but I`ve got no issues about it.'

There's one more thing though: until December, Tevez scored two Premier League goals. Imagine United spending 30M on Tevez and getting a return of 2 goals in 4 months. Would his headless-chicken-style running have been enough for the media to get off his and our back in case of such a scenario?

By the way, what if Tevez scores two goals in the next four months? Just asking.

There you go again. This article came up just about time Man Utd won 3-0 but Man City suffered 2-0 loss due to awful performance. What a good timing to talk about Tevez! I bet if Man City won that match with Tevez again scoring, you wouldn't even write this article!

What if? Why so many "what if"? If you really want to play this "what if" game, then let me ask you: What if Tevez win the Premier League Player of the month for next month (POTM) i.e. two times in a row? Only Fowler, Bergkamp and Ronaldo won it two times in a row. Better still, what if Tevez wins the Premier League Player of the Year (POTY) this season? Only possible way for him to win again the POTM is to beat Man Utd in the Carling Cup, and push Man City back to the top 4, and of course, no other players play better than him this month. If he can maintain his form and help Man City snatch the top 4 spot and win at least 1 trophy this season, I can see only he or Frabregas can win the POTY this season. Have you ever seen a headless chicken won POTM or POTY? Not easy to win but it is possible for him. Hope he can maintain his best form and eventually win it to silent your noisy mouth. Let's wait and see. (By the way, last time I posted here, I predicted him to surge. He is surging now.)

By the way, have you seen the last goals he scored against Wolverhampton and Blackburn? I don't recall anyone else can shoot and score like that, perhaps Fat Ronaldo (the real one, Brazilian) can do that. Fat Ronaldo is Tevez's idol way back when he was teenage. For the Blackburn one, only Ronaldinho did a similar and famous one against Chelsea (check youtube). If you (Zae) are so clever, show me someone other than Ronaldinho who can score like that. I hope he scores and scores and scores again like that. Definitely you will hate it very much. lol

Oops! Sorry, Carling Cup performance won't count for POTM, only one more PL game for Man City this month. Tevez won't win it this month unless he scores another hat-trick against Portsmouth, which is very unlikely. Perhaps next time, Carlitos!

Given the recent revelations about the state of your club's finances it is likely that you simply could not afford him and Valencia at the same time. Fergie knows Tevez is a fine player, and the fans certainly did not want him to go. It was also notable that David Gill had the club's lawyers scrutinising the deal with Kia Joorabchian to see if there were any loopholes which would allow them to purchase Tevez for less that the £25m stipulated under the terms of the agreement. When this did not materialise, the club decided that signing Tevez was just not possible. Even then, they came in and made an offer for the full £25m, although by then they knew it was too late, and this late bid may have been a red herring (sic!) to distract from the sorry state of the club's finances. So, in short, I suspect fergie and Man U did want to keep Tevez. And that makes it all the sweeter for us to see him in a City shirt!

Hahah windleaf calm down, you've taken so much offense from this article! Tevez moved on, no one's bitter about it and if it weren't for our ridiculous defensive injury woes, we would've most definitely been top of the league by now. Which clearly tells me that we don't miss Tevez or even Ronaldo that much. What we need is some able defensive cover not Wes Brown or G.Neville.

Tevez was too big a gamble after his last season with us so it probably seemed like a better idea at the time not to sign him. We needed a player to replace Ronaldo's goals not a Tevez-like player, hence the reason they tried for Benzema and once they failed eventually settled for Owen, who really was a no risk kind of buy, that guaranteed goals. I'm sure Tevez has exceeded the expectations of all fans this season.
