Some Good News At Last: Edwin Back In Training

Edwin van der Sar joined up with his United teammates in Qatar for the four-day winter training camp. The veteran keeper returned from compassionate leave after medical checks revealed that his wife Annemarie suffered no permanent damage from a brain haemorrhage.

Van der Sar hasn't played since the end of November as he's been troubled by a knee injury (another knee injury, this is spooky, Saha, Hargreaves, Park, Berbatov: all are United players who had persistent knee problems in the last two years) so it is not clear when he can make his return but the sooner the better: I'm sure the defence will be more confident with him marshalling the players.

Great news should make a decent impact on teams ability to prevent others from scoring

How long can Van der Zimmer carry on? He might earn you a few points this season by shoring up the defence, but rumour has it he'll be retiring at the end of the season. Who do you think will replace him and when will they come?
