Van der Sar To Return As His Wife Is OK

A silver lining to the doom and gloom of yesterday's humiliation: Edwin van der Sar's wife is recovering well from brain haemorrhage and there will be no long-term effects for her. It is wonderful news and it also means that Edwin is returning to Old Trafford this week.

He's had a fair few injury problems this season and though Kuszczak performed well enough in his absence, his leadership and presence has been sorely missed. It would be about time that we had a settled back five, with Edwin marshalling Ferdinand and Vidic ahead of him. But I'm getting carried away by false hopes...

But the most important thing is that Annemarie is OK - I guess her husband is hugely relieved.

Thank God everything is OK.I would be very pleased to see him back marshalling Ferdinand and Vidic ahead of him.

Good to hear his Mrs is okay and on the road to recovery. Wish her all the best

Nice to hear she's well (some things are more important that football rivalry), but you might be a tad optimistic thinking that Van Der Zimmer is going to improve your defense...

Great news. Thank god everything is okay for his wife. Van der Sar is not exactly a great keeper his best strength is his abillity to organise the defence so I would expect United to look a lot more comfortable in defense now.
