United Managed To Embarass Themselves

Make no mistake: this is a major blow. It's been six years since we last won the FA Cup and it represented our best chance of winning a major trophy this season (the Carling Cup is a nice little thing but it's hardly on the same level) and we blew it, spectacularly.

What's worse, we did it at home. We capitulated against bitter rivals - who happen to be in League One. And we started with our first choice strike partnership. Quite simply there are no positives, none at all. It is an embarassment and humiliation on the grand scale.

There can be no excuses for the performance and the lack of motivation and hunger must be addressed: it seemed that we did not really care which is totally unacceptable. There should have been a gulf in class between the two teams; in reality, we can't even say they did not deserve to win.

Rooney played as someone desperate to win the FA Cup should but only Valencia followed his example after coming on. The rest... they did not look more bothered than by losing a Carling Cup game. I guess Fergie had some strong words with them but he's at fault as well, after all, it's the manager's job to motivate the players (though there is something in the argument that Manchester United players should be motivated simply by wearing the shirt).

There's nothing to analyse about the performance: we were crap, end of. Yes, we had chances but we were always going to have some against a League One team. But we did not create nearly enough because, let me say it again, we were crap. Everyone who played has to take a long, hard look at themselves after this embarassment because with a visit to the council house coming up, our players need to understand their responsibilities.

hahahaha.... this is the first one of a very long and hard week as we THE ONLY MANCHESTER CLUB are up for the semi final on wednesday... no matter what side you lot put out.....
cityman51
My heart bleeds when a big club loses a game. Happens nearly every week at our club, u should count your lucky stars you support Manchester United. One bad result and you act as though the world has caved in. Thanks for making our path to the FA Cup a lot easier though!
GazJohnson
It's embarrassing but for you to say they never played for the shirt is uncalled for.You have average players like oshea, carrick, fletcher etc. that go above whats expected, your expansive play helps them so you expect more from the team.Other than Rooney & Valencia your team has good squad players not world class.Fergie makes you world class. You havent been at the bad end against lower tier opposition have you? You're blinded by how good you can be,5-0 one week.Blame team selection.

oh i forgot to say........WELL DONE LEEDS YOU REALLY DESERVED IT AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE.
bluemooner_mcfc
I'm sorry but the world is kinda laughing and Fergie has made it worse with his pathetic "injury time" comment!
Mikey Delap
all it needs now is the ONLY Manchester club to knock you out of Carling Cup and then AC milan, Beckham and all ,to dump you,lot out of the champions league then you lot may go bust as you have no money...hahahaha
cityman51
Is there a single United fan out there willing to admit Fergie embarrassed you today with his injury-time squeal? Thought not. Muppets. The whole country rejoices. Ha
Howard
Well, I gotta hand it to you, you at least made a comment that you lost. As for where the muppet Rag fans are that usually post on the front section, I have no clue. Congrats Leeds, you fully deserved it, may your hangover be not so bad in the morn.
BlueWolfie
The outpourings of joy at Leeds' victory from nigh on every fan of every club just shows you how utterly despised United are. Leeds absolutely ran the show today, they were magnificent. WELL DONE LEEDS!!!! If ever you, or any one else, needed evidence that Owen is a busted flush this was it. Such a wa n ker!
jinkin jimmy dimmock
Think your exagerating the importance of the EFA cup it has deteriorated over the years as a cup to win.
dannybhoy46
What a shame, was looking forward to knocking you plastic rags out of another cup
Once a Blue
Give Leeds their due, they were the better side. Of course fergie would never admit that, preferring to embarrass himself, your club and your fans by ranting about the ref (who should have awarded Leeds a penalty and could have sent Wes Orange off at least twice). I said after the great swamp robbery that the whole world had finally woken up to fergie's manipulation of the officials and that would be the end of it. And without the ref in his pocket, fergie and united are merely mortal again. Well played Leeds, here's to City tearing them apart on Wednesday and in the swamp replay.

Man City fans have suddenly become the worlds biggest tossers
SouthendBlue
You could tell Fergie cared very little about winning the FA cup by the team he selected. At least now they don't have he distraction of the tournament and can focus on the league now. There are definately a lot of positives of being knocked out at this stage like the fact that we don't have to rusk players getting injured and suffering from fatigue. I'm sure the FA cup is the least of all United fans worries this season. All credit to Leeds though they definately deserved the win. And by the way I love the way that all the City fans on this site are reveling in the fact that we lost to Leeds while they themselves were unable to beat us.
khoder
That Injury time rant was a freaking joke!!!
JT_daniel
Khoder- blah blah blah..
JT_daniel
Well done Khoder for at least having the balls to front up and face the music but what a sad, pathetic excuse you have given everyone. You can't tell me the FA Cup isn't important, you blokes had a good majority of your first team starting including Shrek and Berbaflop. Leeds simply out did you today and wanted it more than you. As for not beating you yet, thats about to change so I'm looking forward to your excuses Wednesday night. PS - I feel a little bit sorry for your lot after Fergie's injury time rant, how embarrassing...
bluesnozza
All i'm saying is that the FA cup is not nearly as important to Manchster United as say the Premier League and the Champions League. I didn't really expect City fans to understand what I was talking about, since you've been deprived of silverware for so long anything you win would seem just grand. And by the way I wouldnt really mind if City started winning trophies it would make the League so much more interesting than the two horse race it has been for such a long time. And yes, Fergie's rant really was embarassing and I really wish he would start to take defeat gracefully.
khoder
Too long in the tooth and set in his ways to start taking defeat gracefully now Khoder. The only trouble is, he used to get away with it, but his aura has dimmed and people are just laughing at him now.
fifthcolumnblue
wouldnt of been too bad if fergie hadnt started speaking at the end, leeds played well, but they did not dominate, i thought utd could of scraped a win at the end.
LHrover
We came, We saw, We conquered.
Tiny T
All he had to say was, "Leeds played better and wanted it more than we did, and we didn't play well at all. They deserved the win". But no, he has to open his mouth. ----- What is that I hear? Is that the FA coming down hard on him, because he is already under a severe warning?
BlueWolfie
fergie is a mastermind,i bet utd will respond positively
kingDROG
Mastermind? He's a master of something else, that I'll give you for nothing
BlueWolfie
Putting worms on hooks?
fifthcolumnblue
Wow, did i miss something, I thought this is manu page ... yes, its a bad loss ... but we've picked ourselves up before. Devils 4 ever :)
datopage2
@ datopage: Yedp, sure is a united page. Funny that you've made the leader board with your single post now though isn't it?!
fifthcolumnblue
Poor game, im gutted no-one except the two Rooney and Valencia looked as if they wanted the win by terms of quality this should've been a walkover.
