Beckham's Coming Home

So, ten Champions League trophies meet when United face AC Milan in the last 16. They are our bogey team, without a single aggregate win against them even though we beat them at Old Trafford three out of four times.

I'll write more about the game tomorrow, about the chances, the squads, the relative strengths but for now I must admit I'm happy that we have the chance of seeing David Beckham performing at Old Trafford again. It's been a long time, Becks, but we'll be delighted to see you again.

Here's one thing I'm curious about, though. What would he do if he scored a 94th-minute goal from a free-kick to knock United out? How would he celebrate that goal? I hope we'll never know.

If we play with speed we will have the edge but if we concede silly fouls and give them time and space then they have the players to cause us quite a bit of pain.

Way too early to predict an outcome, especially after the last time we played them. That game we had a team out assembled with glue, sticky tape and plasticine. This tie allow us to show us how far we've come as a team against a top European side after the sale of Ronaldo. It was the tie I wanted and I can't wait for both games. Hopefully we can win in the San Siro.

The draw was not good to you at all, was it? The other six teams would have better suited you, and I suspect that AC Milan will come up trumps.

NRD-I don't agree that this game will prove anything about how good we are against a top european side because we first have to face one in order to know how good we are,no offence to milan but this is probably the worst milan team in the last 5 to 10 yrs.Lost their best player, lost their manager, there is hardly any pace in this team, they still have to rely on seedorf, ambrosini, inzaghi, etc. The likes of zurich and marseille have defeated and drawn against them in their own backyard and if we can't defeat this team then we don't deserve to be in the CL.

On the paper it surely will look good AC Milan vs Manchester Utd but on the pitch this should be easier than last year against Inter.
Antriksh (abmtd)
A team like Bayern or even Inter this year would give us a lot more problems.I'm not being over confident but I'm just saying what I see.
Antriksh (abmtd)
It won't be easier than Inter. Some teams in Europe play better when they get to the knockout stages AC Milan are one of them. Losing Ronaldo will hurt us more in Europe than in the league. As soon as he scored against Roma in that 7-1 game no player scored more European goals than him. So if we get past AC with the team we have and the new system we play. We would have done better than conquering Inter last year. Nesta is playing well again and they have some pretty good forwards. Also remember you can't be that bad if you go to Madrid and win. Msg to the bitter wolfclown I suspect you would have said the same thing had we drawn Bayern or inter. Go focus on the circus your club has created. So your manager thinks you'll finish top 4 this year and the league next season. Someone need to tell Mancini its Xmas not April Fools!
NotoriousRedDevil
NRD - You really think Bayern Munchen is in the same 'league' (no pun intended) as AC Milan? Additionally, ask anyone, and most will say that my "circus of a club" will win the Premiership sooner rather than later, so I see no reason why next year is not a possibilty. Oh, and many other fans are not actually too thrilled Mancini is now at the helm, y'know because he is a far better prospect than Hughes was.

I was pretty sure u would mention their madrid win but hey this is something even u know that madrid's defence is probably the worst .The words organisation, defending, don't exist in their dictionary. But I do agree with u that this won't be a walk in the park and I have mentioned it as well that if we play as they want us to play,i.e.,to play at a slow tempo then we r in big danger as they do have enough players to hurt us but its our job to play at a very fast tempo like arsenal did and won 2-0.Give them time and space and we r only inviting danger but with fletcher and hopefully a fit hargo we won't give them that.
