'If It's Football, It's Vital'

900 Not Out But This Was A Forgettable Milestone

Okay, let's face it: there's not much to analyse about yesterday's performance. We beat Wolves' second string 3-0 without breaking a sweat. We saw once again that Scholes and Gibson as a central pairing are hopeless and that Berbatov seems to have retreated back into his shell.

United were not creative enough but still could have scored 7 or 8. Valencia had a really poor game but he scored a wonderful goal - Berbatov's only meaningful contribution of the game was providing the assist.

And that's about it. It was Fergie's 900th league game in charge of Manchester United and it couldn't have been a more low key affair. The only talking point will be McCarthy's decision to axe 10 of the players who started at Spurs on Saturday... but more about that later.

Of course no United game is ever complete without a defensive casualty. Nemanja Vidic was forced off after an hour and now he's a major doubt for Saturday's game at Fulham. At least they will have a Europa League game tonight, maybe that will take its toll even though Hodgson has already promised he would not field his best team against Basle.

What more is there to say? It was worth watching the game for the third goal and for the visitors' chants of '42 quid to watch the reserves'. The rest of the 90 minutes? Let's forget that.

I've seen us play better and win only 1-0 or 2-1 so happy with 3 goals and 3 points.
