'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Scholes Sure United Can Cope

No excuses for United, says Paul Scholes. The Ginger Ninja is likely to start at German champions Wolfsburg tonight as severely depleted Reds aim to ensure top spot in the group. We miss no less than 15 first team players (Van der Sar, Brown, Vidic, Ferdinand, O'Shea, Evans, Neville, Giggs, Macheda, Rooney, Berbatov, Hargreaves, Rafael, Fabio) for various reasons...

'It doesn't change too much,' said Scholes.

'We always try to play the same way no matter who is in the team. Sometimes you have to fill positions you are not used to. There are 19 players here and I am sure we can cope.'

Well, good for him, but Grafite, Dzeko, Misimovic, Gentner and co. must be rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of what they could do to our, for want of a better term, defence. And there's still the small matter of hosting Aston Villa on Saturday...

Well, he can't really come out and say "We're Shi*ting ourselves" now can he?
fifthcolumnblue
no he cant, but you could never say 'we're s**t' though either ;)

You gotta rate Fergie and the boys. To put those players out in that formation and 3-1 away is good going. IF we do win the league / champions league this season - it'll have to go down as one of Fergies greatest achievements - the odds have been against us all season but they just won't accept defeat. I still think we'll lose to villa, but I was expecting to get battered tonight. Also, what did everyone think of Dzeko? He scored, but wouldn't you expect someone of his alleged quality to expose our "defence" a bit more?

Fergie and the squad showed real spirit and i would love to see us win the champions league but right now i will settle for the league. Some serious poor finishing though from Woflsburg.

I was impressed it was a proper gutsy performance from the players. In a day and age where playing players out of position can cause them to cause squad disharmony Carrick, Park and Fletcher in particular just shut up and got on with it. Michael Owen, what can I say 5 shots 5 on target 3 goals away to the German champions with a team with 1 defender and 7 midfielders. He hasn't played 90 minutes often but thats the best I've seen him in a United shirt. I'm confident in the next round if we stay relatively injury free (having more than 1 defender for a start!) I still think we can go all the way again. We seem to know how to play in Europe as a team now. You don't go unbeaten 15 games away in Europe by being rubbish now do you?

There will be a huge chance to win the CL if Hargo is back.He is easily in the top 3 DM when fully fit.If he is fit then we need not worry about anyone, not even barca.

Another good news is that berba, rooney and vida will be fit against villa.
