Here's Your Big Chance To Play For United!

Here's Your Big Chance To Play For United!

You know, total football is cool. Who needs defenders? United certainly don't: we might play with seven midfielders on the park at Wolfsburg on Wednesday. Because nobody is fit, apart from Evra. Heck, I guess that fans could apply to play on Saturday, against Villa: this is the chance of a lifetime, you could get a game for United!

But seriously: it looks like Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher are both certain starters on Wednesday which is depressing because A) they will play in defence and B) I was sort of hoping they could get a rest for this game before the hectic Christmas period.

"Losing defenders the way we are doing at the moment is a bit of a headache to us," Fergie said after the 4-0 win at West Ham United.

"Nemanja Vidic was out with flu, meaning we had to put Gary Neville at centre-back and then he goes off after half an hour. Then Wes Brown came off at the end.

"I don`t know how we`re going to get a back four together for Tuesday. I`m hoping Nemanja will be OK and I will probably play Michael Carrick with him in defence."

And if Vidic does not recover? Fergie did not reveal his plans for that scenario but the most likely option seems to be Darron Gibson as he's tall enough (and Ritchie de Laet is not registered for the competition). Basically, we could end up playing three central midfielders in defence. And we still haven't heard anything about when O'Shea and Evans might return...

I could play there,I'm 6+ in height and when it comes to tackling I can surely give scholesy a run for his money.

In reality, carrick and fletcher can get the job done but I agree with Zae that it would be better to rest those players as we have an imp. game coming up.
