Ban On Neville Celebrations

Gary Neville has lost his appeal against a £5,000 fine from the Football Association for his celebrations during the Premiership win against Liverpool in January.

Rio Ferdinand scored a late winner and Neville ran to the Liverpool fans to make a gesture and grab his club badge in jubilation.

The 31-year-old was fined and also warned about his future conduct, but he appealed against the decision.

During Monday's goalless draw against Middlesbrough, Neville confronted an angry United fan, although it is understood he will not face any further action over the incident.

Firstly I see nothing wrong with showing some passion about your club, he did not leave the field, or make rude gestures, so what is the problem. As for the other night I think he was silly to confront a fan, who pays his money and has a right to have a go, he should have just walked away.

To be fair, i think it was good to see him have a word with the fan. All too often, players appear to be 'above' the supporters. At least he went over and listened to what the bloke had to say. So long as there wasn't loads of foul language or blows aimed, then whats wrong with that?
