Vidic: I'm Happy And Never Said I Wanted To Leave

OK, the speculation about Nemanja Vidic's future won't disappear. Every month or so it's brought up that he's made up his made about leaving for Spain or Italy in the summer but so far nothing concrete materialised and that, according to Vidic, has a very concrete reason.

'I am glad to have been part of this club for so many years and if I could be one of the bases on which a new team is built I would be very happy,` he said.

'I have never said I want to go and play in another country. Other people have spoken or written about it and I`m not happy with that.

'But I`ve said in the past what I think. I don`t want to keep talking about it as I can`t stop what people say. The fact is I am happy here.`

Yes, of course, he did not say that he would never leave the club, that he's a Red for life but nobody expected him to do that. He added that on the pitch he had always showed his commitment which is certainly true; he also said that he'd talk to the club about a new contract as his current one expires in 2012.

''But I don`t want to push them,` he explained.

'We will see what happens. I`m here and I am happy.'

so he'll be gone by next season then :-)

Funnily enough, I actually do think he'll leave in the summer. No smoke without fire, I say. If we could find a fairly quick centre back, who could partner johnny evans in the long run, I'd let him go - as we'd get a great price for him (surely over £30M in todays market). If we bring in Kjaer or dodo in january - thats a sign that he's a gonna.

All these speculations arrive when we lose a game but I do agree if we have to sell, then the summer would be perfect, get close to 30million and find a suitable replacement for half the price.

£30 million for someone approaching his 30's and has been on the wane for a couple of seasons now. Good luck with that lol. You'll be lucky to get £15 million for him.

Superhans - you are hilarious mate. On the wane? What being the Barclays Player of the season, one of the PFA defenders of the year (2 years running), keeping a record number of clean sheets, winning 2 leagues and a champions league is Vidic on the wane? I guess everything went down hill for him after he cured cancer and invented lightspeed travel three years ago. If Man City will pay £24M for Lescott, we'll easily be getting £30M for vidic! Approaching his 30's? He turned 28 a month ago! For the record, he is also approaching his 40's at the same alarming rate of 1 per year!
