All I Want For Christmas Is A Right-Footed Evra
Amid all the talk about how excellent Fletcher, Anderson and Rooney were at Stamford Bridge (which is, of course, true) one man was forgotten even though he put in a tremendous shift, not for the first time this season. He is Patrice Evra who is the best left-back in the world by some distance.
I'm amazed by his attacking qualities, his directness, his pace and his stamina which allows him to constantly come bombing up the left without neglecting his defensive duties. His positioning is first-class and he is deceptively strong.
He was excellent at Stamford Bridge, constantly providing support for the attackers as well as doing a marvellous job at the back, ensuring that our lack of width in midfield did not haunt us. He's been amazingly consistent for the last three seasons and really makes you wonder how good we could be if we had an Evra on the right flank as well?
Let me make one thing clear: I do rate John O'Shea. He's an honest, determined full-back with very good defensive qualities. He can hold his own against most attacking players in the world - but he's no Patrice Evra and his lack of pace and technique prevents United from being penetrative enough down the right, thus unbalancing the team.
Yes, we could do with an attacking central midfielder who can pass the ball and is not afraid of taking on men and a pacy finisher would be marvellous as well. But I strongly believe that a right-back, with qualities similar to Evra's, would enhance our chances of success considerably, much more than purchasing Igor Akinfeev, for instance.
Rafael is nowhere near there: he's not as good going forward as Evra and is nowhere near his defensive ability. O'Shea and Brown are useful defensive full-backs but to provide Valencia with more effective support we need more. The problem is that there's no such thing out there as a right-footed Evra: the only player who could do that job is Inter's Maicon and I don't think we can get him.
So, couldn't we just clone Evra please? Once we figure out the process, modifying the genes so that he'll be right-footed should be easy enough, no?

Evra played well, but Ashley Cole is slightly better! If Valencia wasn't on the wing he'd have shown Evra how attacking and defending is done. As for our right back position (Chelsea's) if Bosingwa was playing you can bet your life Evra wouldn't of got forward anywhere near as much. The truth is we had a very defensive Ivanovic at right back (who is a central defender) and that allowed Evra the space to get forward. So I think it was more he was allowed to look good, than really did play well! Ashley Cole all the way for me. Come on you blues!

Also, could we get a second left-footed evra aswell? I'm worrried about what will happen if Evra 1.0 gets injured!

All I want for Christmas is a right footed Evra, a clone of Rooney, Scholes, Giggs and The Neviller to be 10 years younger, a decent keeper, Nani to get abducted by aliens, Hargreaves to get a pair of bionic knees, a new spine for Ferdinand, a cure for the rabies that Evans has contracted, some cash to buy players with and a chance of catching Arsenal and Chelsea this season. Oh how where have your glory days gone?

And A Cole is the best by some distance. After that comes Lahm, then Rafinha and then Evra. Evra's a **** and a thug, who does nothing the whole 90 minutes than pull down somebody, kick at someone's legs, and bomb forward with no end product at all. The way you lot overrate players, you would soon call Valencia as the best right winger in the world!

Cashley Tweedy best left back in the world LMAO on that one, which is why he's been preety much non-exsistant for 3 of the last 4 years. He's had one good season at chelski since he's been there and all those titles he's won. Oh wait that was at arsenal.

Jeez guys, you surely got carried away here. Cole's a fine left-back, in my personal opinion Evra is better (more explosive) but it doesn't really matter that much.

I had little time over the last few weeks, that's why. Liverpool? It's fun but it gets more embarassing every day that we actually managed to lose to them. Had Fletcher been fit, we would have taken something, even with Marriner's, ahem, interesting refereeing. But I somehow had the nasty suspicion that they'll beat us only to crash horribly against Fulham and Birmingham - and it's probably even funnier this way!

Evra is heads and toes better than Cole. Cole is good but so incosistent he shoud change his name to Nani! Evra can completely dominate the left side and still defend extremely well he's explosive and is amazing at creating attacking opportunities. And don't trick yourselves believing Bosingwho? could've contained him, Bosingwa is crap.
