Fergie: We'll Do Better Than At Anfield

Sir Alex promised that there will be no tame surrender from United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday; no meek acceptance of defeat like at Anfield. He's signing the right songs but does anyone seriously believe we can get a result at Chelsea?

'It's always a hard game at Chelsea, but we'll deal with it better than we did at Anfield, I'm sure of that,' he said.

'They're shaping up to be the main challengers. It seems they'll be the ones to get in front of.'

Yes, they're bang in form, scoring for fun, especially at home while we'll be without one of our centre-backs and without our main creative influence, the 36-year-old Ryan Giggs. That he's the most creative player of the season speaks volumes of our current form... I hope we'll get away with a creditable two-goal defeat and it won't turn into a massacre.

You may not surrender meekly, you may even go down fighting - but go down you most certainly will
fifthcolumnblue
sad when you're predicting a 2-0 loss!
merlin
1-1 Draw.
NotoriousRedDevil
fifth - you got lottery numbers as well? I need an extra quid for a few things
ForeverUnited
So do the Glazers mate.
fifthcolumnblue
I haven't seen so many united fans predicting a draw... :)

To tell u the truth Fletch will have a huge say in whether we take anything back to OT or not.We cannot let their mid-field just run over us like barca did and fletcher will have to stop the likes of ballack, lampard, etc. He will have to put in a superhuman effort.
Antriksh (abmtd)
Chelsea IMO are a class above everyone else this season and United are going to see that first hand. Sadly.......it could get ugly Chelsea 3-0. :)
bluesnozza
If he plays Scholes and Giggs straight from the off again we will surely lose but otherwise a draw would do nicely and a breath of fresh air from our current poor performances against our biggest rivals for the title would be nice.

chelsea have looked shaky whenever a team has decided to attack them and not let themselves get played out of the game. if united can play for the full ninety minutes then they certainly have a great if not higher chance of winning the game because we all know what they united are like when they play well
khoder
Chelsea are far too confident about this. Predicting a lot of smiling Mancs come Sunday evening.

Still no comment as to why united have chosen not to wear a poppy on their shirts. The scousers have declined as well, seeing as you all like to put the boot into them, I thought it might get some mention Or are you hiding your head's in the sand (embarrassed?) on this one?
fifthcolumnblue
I find that fascinating too, 5th. You would have thought that the fans would have a word or two to say about that. But then again, maybe not.
BlueWolfie
It's not exactly a pressing issue is it fcb
One United 92
Maybe not but would be nice if one or two of you spoke your mind instead of going native. You can't all be happy with the situation can you?
pacific_ocean_blue
i'm surprised at how many people believe it will be a chelsea rally all through on sunday.even if we do win, we will sweat it out.the b.l.o.o.d.y mancs play to defend their name as champions (except at anfield of course).i really do hope chelsea win it but to underrate man utd is, to say the least, funny.
blueogre
Ok my opinion on the poppy situation, it's not right but I couldn't care enough for it to bother me and make an issue of it, what Fergie or players do is what they do all I know is i will be wearing a poppy so thats that. Plus why the sudden interest in our opinions? Usually you would just dismiss and say the complete opposite of what we say.
One United 92
Very true, this country and the majority of people living in it love a good moan over something or other. United or the dippers not wearing poppies is highly a major issue, what is a major issue is youths of today urinating and vandalising war memorials up and down the country and nobody bats an eyelid but that doesn't involve Manchester United so its not big news. Why doesn't Capello wear a poppy as England manager? And to say our club doesn't care about the armed forces is ridiculous just remember who carried the Premiership trophy out last season when we won it but I suppose most of you had your eyes closed and your fingers in your ears when that happened, but quick to jump on an extreme right winged newspapers bandwagon because everybody loves a good moan.
NotoriousRedDevil
Idiots urinating on war memorials and stealing poppy collections was front page in the MUEN a few days ago so don't say nobody bats an eyelid. That paper is hardly "right-winged" (sic). Just wondering why the club are putting forward lame excuses about colour clashes and off field charitable activities to deflect from the fact that your club is not showing solidarity with Rememberance Day in front of a worldwide audience in the 100's of millions. If there is a real reason why Utd don't want to do it just say so.
pacific_ocean_blue
Wasn't reffering to that particular paper and thats hardly read by the entire nation is it? When has anybody mentioned colour clashes? It doesn't surprise me that theres more whinging going on here than some of the other clubs that have done it. A lot of people put a poppy on for show rather than actually caring or understanding what its all about. Freedom of choice at the end of the day, if United haven't got a poppy on their shirts then those it bothers should stop everyone they see that doesn't wear one and berate them as well but probably don't have the intestinal fortitude to do so and would rather be "keyboard warriors".
NotoriousRedDevil
IIRC United defended the poppies on shirts issue by saying that there would be a problem placing a red poppy on a red shirt which is an situation that other clubs whose strip is predominantly red have successfully surmounted and also pointing out that United do contribute to servicemen's charities in other ways. That being the case then why exercise your freedom of choice in declining to make this gesture once or twice a year like (almost) everybody else? How would you feel if out in Afghanistan or Iraq at the moment and see Chelsea sporting the poppy and United not? It's such a small thing to ask, really. Also, are you seriously suggesting that those who do not berate strangers about going poppyless lack guts? They'd lack brains if they did don't you think? I don't regard myself as a keyboard warrior just as someone who is on a DISCUSSION FORUM to DISCUSS matters. Nothing else. What about you?
pacific_ocean_blue
I guess losing by only 1 goal at the Bridge is a better result than the 2-0 defeat at Anfield, so Fergie wasn't just talking out of his backside this time.
fifthcolumnblue
You because when you're in Afghanistan or Iraq getting shot at and living in a crap hole the first thing they're going to think of is: 'I can't believe Man U didnt put a poppy on their kits.'
One United 92
Yeh you guys did do better...Look at Jonny Karate Kid Evans' kick!! WOW! it's like watching Bruce Lee! Good stuff manyoooo,
