Hargreaves' Return Delayed Again

Owen Hargreaves' return to the United first team has been delayed yet again: Sir Alex is considering bringing him back for the Champions League group game at Wolfsburg which will be at December 8.

Fergie said it depended on whether the game will have any significance and also stressed that Hargreaves was very pleased with his own progress. However, it definitely looks like caution is overwhelming in this case: I mean Hargreaves had been scheduled to return by August!

That was, of course, impossible but when the squad for the Champions League had been registered Fergie said Hargreaves could play in the last three games, not just in the last one! November, with CSKA and Besiktas visiting Old Trafford seemed a perfect opportunity for Hargreaves to make his comeback - but it's delayed again.

I sincerely hope that the start of December is indeed the final date now because it's more than a year since we've last seen Owen Hargreaves in competitive action. And Sunday's game showed we could do with his energy and ability.

Hope he has recovered when he does return, last thing we need is another Saha! We could use him now more than ever, with Carrick playing or not playing the way he is.

I'm not going to hold my breath with this whole saga anymore.

No doubting you could use a player of Hargreaves' quality and experience at the moment, but how long will you have to wait? The major surgery he's had, combined with the continued setbacks makes me wonder whether or not you'll ever see him back to full fitness.

If it means he'll be fully fit for the 2nd half of the season I'll take that. If he had had an operation on one knee he would have been back by now but two it isn't worth risking. If we win the next 2 group games that match will be a dead rubber, so we shall see.

We'll keep hearing stories like this until he retires, when was the last time that he actually played?

saw this coming.
