Van der Sar Is Back - Foster's Time Is Over

Edwin van der Sar returns to the Manchester United team after missing the start of the season because of a broken finger. The Dutchman was sorely missed as his deputy Ben Foster did not impress between the sticks.

'Edwin's fit and he will play,' Sir Alex said.

'He's trained for quite a while now but because it was a hand injury, you don't take any chances. He had a Reserves game about 10 days ago and came through that fine, it was the confidence booster he needed.'

On paper he shouldn't have much trouble in a game against Bolton at Old Trafford but on paper we should have beaten Sunderland as well... but I think all fans will be much more relaxed, seeing Edwin behind the back four.

It possibly means the end for Ben Foster who could not take his chance to impress. He committed dreadful mistakes against Sunderland, City and Chelsea, should have done better with Arshavin's shot against Arsenal and looked very shaky in the air against Birmingham City. So many problems in such a short space of time is bad news for a goalkeeper aspiring to be United's number 1...

His time will come again, but he hasnt been as bad as fans are making out. Even Edwin has his moments you know.
