Obertan Back - Looked Good Among The Kids

Gabriel Obertan is back in action, along with right-back Rafael da Silva. The French winger, a surprising summer signing, hasn't made his competitive debut for United yet but he completed 45 minutes for the Reserves in the Manchester Senior Cup against Oldham Athletic.

He did well, too. Nothing extraordinary but quite a few nice touches and a bit of pace were there to see. He definitely possesses more talent than most players who get to play in the Reserve team but that does not mean much in itself. But considering the somewhat underwhelming performances by our wingers, bar the 794-year-old Ryan Giggs, it's no surprise that we're awaiting his return with feverish anticipation.

Obertan has the build and the movement of Thierry Henry; if he plays like Henry without being an arrogant arse like Henry he'll be the signing of the decade. But that's going a bit too far, after 45 minutes in a reserve fixture...

"underwhelming perfomances"? That's an understatement...

I don't fully understand the comment you made about Henry being arrogant...I have seen the guy he is very much down to earth.... unfortunately he played for Mr. Arse in Arse...nal if obertan is anywhere near as good that would be a dream....I was and still am a huge huge admirer of henry
