Andy Cole: I Could Not Stand Teddy

It was never exactly a secret that Teddy Sheringham and Andy Cole shared a mutual dislike. There was a lot of speculation about where this animosity comes from but it's the first time that one of them actually spoke out on their feud.

In Glory, Glory, a book written by lifelong fan Andy Mitten about United in the 1990s, Cole said of Sheringham: "Our problems started when I made my England debut.

"I replaced Teddy. I was making my debut. Maybe I was naive, but I think he should have wished me all the best.

"I was nervous, as anyone would be.

"Instead, he walked straight past me and blanked me. It's not like I told Terry Venables to take Teddy off.

"So I was devastated when Teddy Sheringham signed for United because I couldn't stand him.

"We played a friendly in Milan in 1997, just after he'd signed. He said something on the pitch. I didn't like it. 'I'm only trying to help you,' he said. 'I don't need your help,' I replied."

Whoa. Is that all? It's somewhat difficult to believe that - to be honest, spoilt kids act this way. These 'insults' are far from being unforgivable so it's a tad strange they could never settle their differences.

Now Andy, we'd quite like to hear about how you got on with Eric Cantona...

im suprised united fans remember sheringham aren't u all about 12
Hey Pachna - are you not aware that the world began in 1993?
lol fifth column. Never liked Andy Cole personally, always thought he was abit of a miserable git
I'm not surprised a spurs fan has a brain the size of a pea
That's still logarithmically larger than your average rag fan NeRD.
fifth - Are you getting paid to stay on here and be a WUM? I could very well do that at Vital Sh(!) ity.
How typical - Cole has thrown his Teddy out of the pram! But in all seriousness these pair are yesterdays news. And ForeverUnited - you could do, but your comments would get lost in amongst those of all of our serious posters, unlike sticking out on a barren wasteland like this site!
ForeverUnited - how about you actually put some time and effort into posting on the threads here at VMU? Or is that way too difficult? Yeah, that's what I thought...
I just enjoy your company NRD. Anything you want to "Teach" me today? I'm all ears....
Kevinho - Aaah a wasteland this site is! So if I may gently ask.....what brings you to this wasteland? And seeing as how there are no serious posters on here...?
Wolfie - I do put effort into my comments on here but I won't sit by when idiots like fifth come on here just to wind us up! He ruins threads with his asinine and poorly thought-out comments!
That muppet fifth is like a memeber of al qaeda he goes round all the sub sites trying to recruit people to join him on his ridiculous quest by spewing tripe. Constantly contradicting himself and then getting all of his deluded mates to back him up. Then he calls it banter and gets upset when we go on the offensive when he's the idiot who starts it all in the first place. He wants to be a Man United supporter bless him.
As for the story that Zae posted, strikers with egos. Who would have thought it? Both were quality players for United and got on with the job despite their petty differences, couldn't see that happen today.
FU and NRD (Even though you are surely the same person) - the only time you could ever possibly upset me is by suggesting that I want to support your nasty little side. Thank you, but no. And just because I don't agree with everything you say makes it tripe does it? It must be wonderful to live in that imaginary place in your head that makes you the master of the universe eh? Teach on brother NRD/FU, I await the next sermon with baited breath.
Forever United - I hope that you're not classing your self and NotoriousRedDevil as serious posters, the pair of you are like Laurel and Hardy! LOL
The only surprising part NRD is that ForeverUnited hasn't been about to say the same thing just yet!
Think they're more like the Kraqnkies than Laurel and Hardy Kev!
Good point NRD where the heck has Kevinho come from, decided to crawl out of his hole has he.
One United 92
Hey OU92, Kev's hole is delightfully appointed, has good prospects and is very welcoming. Can you say the same of your home town (at a guess Cobham, and don't pretend you don't know where it is). Ciao for now.
Why didn't AC like teddy; wrong colour, fabric, size? Perhaps he'd have been better off with a cami set, or maybe even pyjamas. Do players still share rooms on away trips, if so he probably only wanted to look his best. Player competativeness shouldn't be reserved solely for the club car park!
Oi kenny why don't you and Schizophrenio just get a room and get it over and done with. If you want to get intimate in public don't come here and do it. Mind you the offspring between you two doesn't bear thinking about.
One United 92 - We don't crawl out of holes but its you lot who are used to crawling out from under rocks and out of the woodwork!
If you resident United posters post, its only in response to a fight. Why?
Because the mugs like schizophrenio and fcb have nothing better to do than just take cheap digs to matters that don't concern them. They just want to be Man United fans but can't admit it.
NRD - Why would we want to be United fans? You lot have had your time, ours is about to come - Get used to it.
When it comes start shouting you haven't done nothing yet. Even Leeds have pushed us closer for the title than you lot. If you do I'll give you credit until then all the noise is just hot air.
