Andy Cole: I Could Not Stand Teddy

Andy Cole: I Could Not Stand Teddy

It was never exactly a secret that Teddy Sheringham and Andy Cole shared a mutual dislike. There was a lot of speculation about where this animosity comes from but it's the first time that one of them actually spoke out on their feud.

In Glory, Glory, a book written by lifelong fan Andy Mitten about United in the 1990s, Cole said of Sheringham: "Our problems started when I made my England debut.

"I replaced Teddy. I was making my debut. Maybe I was naive, but I think he should have wished me all the best.

"I was nervous, as anyone would be.

"Instead, he walked straight past me and blanked me. It's not like I told Terry Venables to take Teddy off.

"So I was devastated when Teddy Sheringham signed for United because I couldn't stand him.

"We played a friendly in Milan in 1997, just after he'd signed. He said something on the pitch. I didn't like it. 'I'm only trying to help you,' he said. 'I don't need your help,' I replied."

Whoa. Is that all? It's somewhat difficult to believe that - to be honest, spoilt kids act this way. These 'insults' are far from being unforgivable so it's a tad strange they could never settle their differences.

Now Andy, we'd quite like to hear about how you got on with Eric Cantona...

How typical - Cole has thrown his Teddy out of the pram! But in all seriousness these pair are yesterdays news. And ForeverUnited - you could do, but your comments would get lost in amongst those of all of our serious posters, unlike sticking out on a barren wasteland like this site!

ForeverUnited - how about you actually put some time and effort into posting on the threads here at VMU? Or is that way too difficult? Yeah, that's what I thought...

Kevinho - Aaah a wasteland this site is! So if I may gently ask.....what brings you to this wasteland? And seeing as how there are no serious posters on here...?
