Fletcher Wants To Get To Double Figures!

Darren Fletcher gingerly, carefully raised the subject of Cristiano Ronaldo's departure and claimed that it might, just might have some positive effect as well... Fletch, one of United's most impressive performers this season (or last season...), has even set a goal target for himself.

"The manager has pointed out that Ronaldo has gone and that is a huge goal difference that we need to fill. As players, we all have to rise to the challenge," he said.

"Ronaldo was good for us, but a lot of players sacrificed themselves for Cristiano too. In a lot of games, I`d be asked to play in central midfield but, whenever he went forward, I`d have to get out to the right to cover him.

"Maybe, now we have got back to 4-4-2, where everybody drops back as a four, it gives the midfielders more opportunity to bomb forward.

"I`d like to think I can get double figures this season because, in this team, you are always likely to get chances if you can get into the box."


Whoa. More than ten goals for Darren Fletcher? Incidentally, do you know when was the last time a United central midfielder reached double figures in a season? It was in the 2004/05 season, and of course Paul Scholes managed the feat. Since then Scholes has got closest, scoring 7 in 2006/07. So Fletcher set himself a huge target - I don't think he'll do it, to be frank. But he'll probably get my vote for Player of the Year if he does.

10 goals all competitions. I can see that happening, he's on 2 already and we haven't played Hull or Portsmouth yet.

Off topic as well, but hey guys - That Carlos Tevez - He's a bit poo isn't he? I mean, what the hell kind of return is 3 goals in 4 games? Utter rubbish. Wish we'd signed the mighty Dimitar instead. Now there's one helluva player.

Come on fifthcolumnblue, why try that little jibe? When we had them both, berba out performed him. Tevez was cack for us last year and there is no way anyone could justify his price tag based on his performances. Money is no object for you guys and he is an improvement on what you had so you spent the money and he is playing well for you -fair play - but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Berbas goal scoring record at spurs wouldn't have led anyone to believe he would be struggling for goals the way he has so far - even the "mighty" man city thought him good enough for their illustrious team. At the end of the season lets see which team finishes where and which striker has the best return. Then we can really talk about who is **** and who isn't (for the record, I'm gonna go with city and tevez being more **** than us and berba over 38 games!)
