You're Officially Allowed To Hit United Fans Now

Gary Neville has been warned after... well, committing the heinous crime of celebrating a goal with his own teammates and the United staff. He was banned in 2006 for the very same thing so we should be grateful that he hasn't been executed on the spot.

Craig Bellamy, thug in the Manchester Citeh gang, has also been warned for the apparently no more serious crime of hitting a fan who was restrained by three stewards. Imagine if Eric Cantona did that. A four-month ban, at the very least.

Oh well, these things happen, these things even themselves out - sooner or later the FA will let United get away with something they heavily punish City for. That's what we told ourselves when Rio Ferdinand was banned for eight months for the same offence that had cost 2k for Manchester City player Christian Negouai.

'In relation to Craig Bellamy the match referee has confirmed that he would not have sent the player off had he seen the incident with the fan at the time,' said the FA statement.

That, for me, means that Martin Atkinson confirmed it's allowed to hit United fans now - you'll escape not just assault charges, you'll be allowed to stay on the pitch!

I was picturing a big pinata when I read the headline :) Nothing dangerous though, just a plastic bat :)
NorwaYid
that stupid fan deserved to be clobbed
arthur7171
i think you got it wrong mate.....there is a clear difference between this story and cantona's.....one of the stupid fans did wrong...he rushed unto the pitch and seemed like he was about to attack bellamy....if u were him...would u stand around to be hit or would u defend ur self....in cantona's case there were words thrown between the two and cantona reacted to being provoked just as stupid adebayor did last week...and they were both wrong..
ibrahiy
i agree with the idea that this fan gets banned...maybe till he learns his lesseon as he makes us all look bad..
ibrahiy
If the fan hadn't been restrained. I would have had no problem with any player hitting that fan. However its quite clear that Bellamy goes over AFTER he sees the fan being restrained and then hits him albeit it wasn't much of a hit, thats whats wrong. You're a ****** if you hit a restrained guy be man enough to do it one on one or don't bother.
NotoriousRedDevil
What was the fan doing on the pitch? Going to propose to the referee for allowing play until United scored? If you lot cant restrain fans, then there's no reason to complain. If anything, United should be sued for poor crowd management.
JT_daniel
JT, i think you will find its alot harder to restrain 75,000 than it is a pathetic 40,000
One United 92
Yeah right, seeing all 75,000 sit near the pitch eh? Fool.
JT_daniel
It's only 40,000 at big games usually its less. More fans have entered the pitch at the Bridge over the last few years. This is the first time I can remember a fan being on the pitch at OT for quite some time. I was actually surprised he got through.
NotoriousRedDevil
Still he shouldnt have been on the pitch - something I would never dream of doing - why get banned when you could be at OT every home game instead of having to watch on Sky or online??
niteworlok
Fair play I've been waiting for them to pass this law and oh by the way United had used all 3 subs when Neville celebrated so he had about as much right to be on the pitch as that so called fan who Bellamy slapped.
