'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Macheda Is Not Ready - Yet

Italy U21 boss Pierluigi Casiraghi believes that even though Federico Macheda is showing a lot of promise, he's far from being a complete footballer yet. But the former Italy striker concedes that the United starlet has excellent qualities.

"He needs to grow a lot, both on the pitch and off it, if he wants to remain a part of this squad," he said.

"As a player he has many qualities, but they are yet to be expressed fully. If he wants to be a football player, then that is a fun job, but he needs to learn to be a real professional.

"At the moment, that is not the case with Macheda. I say this above all in his own interest."

Not very surprising, all this: Macheda is very raw on the pitch, we saw that with our own eyes: he's got nowhere near the maturity (and I say this in a playing, not in a disciplinary sense) of the 18-year-old Wayne Rooney. What we know him off the pitch is that he's got a soft spot for glamour and parties which is not the most endearing quality in the eye of a coach...

Hi Pompey Fan here. I dont understand why people were saying that he we be the next Man utd star when he scores a good alright goal agaisnt Villa and a lucky deflected goal against Sunderland. Hes young and needs time but could become a great player.
