Evans Risks His Fitness By Postponing Surgery

Jonny Evans revealed that his injury problems made him think he might need surgery. His ankle has been troubling him for a long time but now there's a glimmer of hope that he might not need to go under the knife.

'A few weeks ago, it was in the back of my mind that I might need an operation, but with steroid operations it is feeling a lot better again,' he told Sky Sports News.

Fortunately, it's not a knee but an ankle, an altogether less troublesome body part. Yet he could end up like Hargreaves, postponing surgery in the hope that some alternative treatment might do the trick. It is a risk; he risks his fitness.

It is a risk but right now we need him as ferdinand still has to make his return and brown has just comeback after a long layoff.

Seeing as he's the one player holding your midfield together (Witness the loss at Burnley without him), I'd say you'd better wrap him up in cotton wool and pray nothing happens to him. You have no replacements until Hargreaves returns, and given the lenght of time he's been out you wouldn't want to have to rely on him immediately.
