Berba, You Should Try The Stuff The Others Do

Berba, You Should Try The Stuff The Others Do

Dimitar Berbatov admitted that he did not even dare doing some of the tricks and things that his teammates, like Wayne Rooney, often pull off. Which, for me, is a problem.

'We have so much talent at United,' he said.

'They do stuff that sometimes I honestly cannot do and I don't even try because I would look like a fool.

'You see people doing it and ask them about it. You learn from each other. To develop, you have to.'

Oh come off it Berba. I hope you were only joking.

But even if he did, even if he did not actually mean it, what he said was true. By every indication, he's still lacking in confidence to become a real presence and presumably that's why Fergie usually has second thoughts about using him in the biggest games.

He can, obviously, pull of just about anything: the way he set up Ronaldo against West Ham last season confirmed as much. He just needs to do it more often, to give free rein to his abilities, to stop being so bloody unselfish all the time. He could do with a few lessons from a certain Cristiano Ronaldo but unfortunately he is not around any more...

"he's still lacking in confidence to become a real presence and presumably that's why Fergie usually has second thoughts about using him in the biggest games.". Or perhaps he's just rubbish and fergie has bought another Veron?

Jeepers fifth u are making a nusence everywhere! Berbatovs best attribute is the sulk!!! surely u guys would have realised this by now. Fifth Juan Sebastian Veron was one of the most enjoyable players to watch ever! im sure u did alot of watching him from other end of manchester... especially since he was winning titles.

Ah yeah, go to City just like Tevez did. Go to City because you "didn't get first team opportunities at United". Go to City from a United squad where you're one of 5 strikers (two of whom are inexperienced youngsters) to City, where how many have they got now? Seven? Eight? The logic.... I do think Berbatov's a confidence player, but he just needs to try some other things, run a bit harder-he said he's in awe of some of the things Rooney does, so he should just have a go at some of them. Learn from Rooney's determination and willingness to go anywhere and everywhere. Because either Berbatov or Owen really really has to start performing pretty smartish, because come a game when Rooney's not doing so well, is out of sorts or suspended/injured (and believe me, much as I'd love it, he can't play to this level every game this season though I think he'll top score in the league and play very very well) I just worry about what will happen to us. We look so reliant on Rooney, if anything happened to him... I fear that would be our season gone. Very very happy that Rooney's doing so well, but if only to relieve the pressure, others have to start too...

Mix26 - I won't deny that Veron was one of the best midfielders of his generation, but he failed miserably at united, a fact that will be confirmed by most of your fans. Ditto Berbatov, who is highly skilled and was probably spuds best player before fergie kidnapped him. The fact remains that he looks like a fish out of water in the united team, and there is no sign of him improving, hence the Veron analogy. With hindsight we City fans are all breathing a sigh of relief that he chose you.
