Lescott Suddenly Became The Best In The League!

Oh god. Suddenly, after millions of pounds were spent on him, Joleon Lescott's status rocketed upwards from being a good, reliable defender to being the best defender in the Premier League!

'It's been a long and difficult process but I feel Joleon is the best centre-half in the Premier League and will be for many years to come.

'He's key to what we are trying to achieve. I've been really keen to bring him here because the key as a manager is being able to work with your targets and now it's just a case of integrating him into the team,'
said Mark Hughes, sadly affected by the City disease of delusion.

The best centre-half? Yes, if we don't count Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic or even John Terry, Jamie Carragher, Martin Skrtel... And there's a case for Alex and Carvalho as well. But of course now every player they sign is suddenly the best in the league, simply because money was thrown at them. Why that made them so much better, I really don't know.

It made me laugh too. A few months ago everyone in the media was saying how he wasn't good enough for England, now he's the best centre half in England. Also the best centre half in the league was beaten by a 3 foot tall SWP only 18 months ago right in front of our goal. The same Lescott who is a decent defender, but apparently the best because he provides 7 goals a season. I can assure any City fan, in 12 months time you'll find that statement by Hughes hilarious too. He's a good player don't get me wrong, but he's nowhere near Rio/Vidic/Terry level of defending. Everyone conveniently forgets now too, we quoted Arsenal £11 million for him only 8 months ago in January, and he was deemed not worth it. He is quite clearly to anyone with an IQ above 1 not the best centre half in the league.

He should be the best in the b**tard league for £24m!!! I certainly don't think he is, I think he's way down the pecking order, with Vidic, Ferdinand, Carragher, Skrtel, Terry and King all ahead of him in my opinion. It's like saying Adebayor or Tevez are the best strikers in the league. Expensive doesn't mean great. The more money you chuck at a project, the more you look a jackass when it goes wrong. Such has been the case at Spurs for a while now. Narrow victories over Blackburn and Wolves do not fill me with a sense of fear of Man City at the minute!

Yes I do agree he is not worth that crazy amt. but one cannot disagree with the fact that sparky is buying players that are familiar with the league and r quality, there r no two ways about that plus if they become title challengers it will only be good from the league's point of view which league can boast so many quality teams and it will also give Sir Alex a reason to stay on longer so for me its all good.

bernio3000, the old city would have lost those games but there is still a long way to go before anyone can claim their superiority over others.

I think Hughes is just trying to cover up his embarrassments at not getting the Terry deal done and trying to show that Lescott is equal to him

Since Lescott is now the best defender in the league, do you think we should make a move for him?
Tosswink
Lescott? best defender in the league? now that's comedy gold that is.
