Hillsborough Shirts Are Simply Not Funny

I know I should not but I still feel the need to apologise in the name of that United fan who bought a Hillsborough-mocking shirt from Sports Direct, Mike Ashley's company.

The company apologised to the victims, trying to defend themselves with the statement that the employee marking the shirt did not know what it was about. A pretty lame story - but that hardly matters for us here.

What matters is that no United fan should ever do such things. '96 is not enough' - this is sick. I know what many will say - that there are Liverpool fans who sing about Munichs. Yes, true, and there are people who kill others for a living but it does not mean we should take up that, too.

For me it's quite obviously wrong but it looks like some people's sense of morality doesn't work properly. For them, I'd just like to state that it is not cool and not funny. It's petty, sickening, insulting and horrible. Just accept it, for the sake of your own social life.

100% agree (although I disagre we should be so against the army, navy and airforce, who's job it is to kill people...effectivly... but now I'm just being pedantic...)

The 96 deserve justice. just remember it couldv happened to any supporter from any club.

Completely correct. It's just pathetic, sick and so naive. People do and say these kind of things without fully appreciating what the victims went through. Effectively, these people are making a mockery of 96 full lives, not just the loss of football fans. It's just sick.

Thanks Zae, it does make you think what planet these people are on. The Munich chants are also totally out of order. Some things are above the rivalry we have between us and you United fans.

Absolutely - out of order. Whatever the club, these tragedies should be treated with respect and sympathy... Hillsbrough touched football and the country as a whole - it wasn't a club thing. Ditto Munich (and sadly, others). We should unite in remembrance and sadness not make fun of something that's certainly no laughing matter.
