O'Shea: It's An Honour To Captain United

It was somewhat of a surprise to see John O'Shea leading United out of the tunnel on Sunday: after all, Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney and Darren Fletcher were all in the team. However, Scholes dislikes being captain while O'Shea is older than both Rooney and Fletcher and played more games for United than them. So it's not such a baffling choice I suppose. And our Irishman was delighted.

'It is a huge honour to be captain of Manchester United,' he said.

'It is nice to do it in pre-season games but to be captain for the first game of a new season is something I will always cherish.'

O'Shea also added that he hopes to make the most of his chances again, even though he knows he's not first choice if everyone's fit. But that's why we have a strong, big squad, he says.

Totally unrelated but haaa when on a football site I briefly noticed a news article title which actually said Chelsea sign Nemanja Matic but that I read as Vidic... bit of a shock there! Wondered what sort of joke that was... thankfully not real-our defence is patched up as it is!

whats not a joke is vidic's agent saying that he wants to move to barca....i hate barca...and madrid

Mmm... Vidic worries me (though his agent often seems to say stuff different to him...) I think we'll only get another couple of seasons out of him at most though I really really really hope he doesn't go. We need him at the back - Evans is talented but I see him as Ferdinand's replacement not Vidic's - we need some one to compliment Rio and Vidic does it brilliantly - Rio sometimes looks lost in his absence.

true... anyways apparently the agent came out saying that he didn't say that stuff....its all too confusing so i will stop listening...we will wait to see if we get an actual offer I personally can't think of anyone atm that could replace vidic....but then again i didn't know who vidic was tell he came here...so i dunno
