United Make Another Move For Douglas Costa

Manchester United are still keen on signing Gremio's Douglas Costa who at 18 is rated as one of the brightest prospects in Brazil. According to press reports, his club is still holding out for a fee of 21m yet United hope they can persuade the Brazilians to lower their demands.

The champions will offer 7m as an initial fee, with a series of performance- and success-related add-ons. The reasoning, according to the Guardian, is that Gremio will baulk at the prospect of getting nothing at all if they continue to demand way over the odds.

Citeh are also interested in the player but he's believed to be favouring a move to United (big surprise) and that they are also reluctant to pay the exorbinant price that Gremio want.

As for my personal opinion (not that anyone asked for it): if they accept this reported offer - sounds credible enough, not the usual transfer rubbish - then it's a good deal for both parties. The kid is extremely skilful and talented and though only time will tell whether he can adapt to pressures and demands of the English game we won't risk too much.

we should not pay over the odds for a player with no prem experiance and may not make it as a world beater, think we should invest in the youth players but dont be taken for mugs and pay over the odds like another team not so far away!!! ash young would be a good signing if we are splashing a bit of cash!

Agreed, the only player I'd like to see us paying big money for this summer is ashley young as he is proven quality in the premier league and he's english. Anyone else costing over £25M is a gamble not worth taking in my view.

we dont need anyone else IMO, which has just been confirmed by fergie.....strikers: rooney, berbatov, owen, macheda, welbeck (plus the fact we dont always play a system that required 2 strikers) wingers: obertan, valencia, tosic (why is he being forgotten, i think SAF wants him to be ronaldos replacement) nani, giggs, park (awesome player, in my starting XI everytime) midfielders: carrick, scholes, giggs, fletcher (again, awesome IMO) gibson, hargreaves (do peopel forget we payed 18 mil for this guy??) and defenders/goalkeepers everyoen knows we are fine, raphael will be AMAZING next year imo. we cant just buy peopel when others have off spells/ get injured. we have ALOT of good players, lets use em. well in SAF for stoppign thsi crazy rumour mill, now we can get on with gelling the team and getting ready for next year!!!!!!!!

It came as a surprise for me when we were again linked to costa because in petrucci we already have a player who can take over and be our scholes or lampard,so for me it came as a bit of a shock but anyways as U4L has rightly pointed out fergie has dismissed these rumours.

If we're trying to sign him, let's do it already, if not let's just please move on!

We'd be better off getting David Silva for what Gremio are asking for Douglas.
