Obertan Having A Medical At United

Obertan Having A Medical At United

According to newspaper reports, Bordeaux winger Gabriel Obertan is currently in Manchester, having a medical at United before signing for the Champions. The reports claim United will pay Ł3m for him to Bordeaux.

Their boss, the former Red Laurent Blanc admitted he was surprised by the move but he believes that United will bring the best out of the talented winger.

If he is indeed as cheap as the rumours suggest then we'll still have the Ronaldo money intact and available... I'm very curious whether we'll ever spend it or just use it to pay off some of the crippling debts.

Interesting to see Laurent Blanc say he was suprised that we're buying him and that if he can overcome psychological barriers his talent might be unleashed - something he says bordeaux and lorient were unable to do. This signing could well be a punt similar to the De Laet signing. With Lee Martin gone from the reserves perhaps we're looking to fill that gap and then hoping he'll improve over time. With the price and comments of people that have worked with him, I'm not convinced that we're buying this 20 yr-old for immediate impact on the first team.

After hearing his[laurent blanc] comments,it has in a way curbed my initial joy but we will wait and see how he sets into our team.

If we don't buy any other player then I guess he will be bought for our first team.I'm just waiting for Sir Alex to shed some light on this topic, may be it will give us an idea what he has in his mind for this player.

Samuel Eto'o is rumored apparently?

Can't see the samuel eto'o thing happening. Owen would never have been signed if we intended to bring in a striker of his quality. Eto'o would be a guaranteed starter, pushing berba to the bench, owen would drop further down the pecking order and macheda and welbeck wouldn't get a look in. That would be 4 out of 6 strikers unhappy without taking into account the fact that samuel eto'o is rumoured to be an ar*ehole at the best of times.

I agree Tuscan, it was just something I had read on goal.com.

Yeah, I read that too. Funny how we're still being linked with strikers don't you think? Worse than the Eto'o rumour is the Huntelaar and Fabiano rumours - What the hell would be the point of bringing those two in? at over £20M as well apparently!

I completely agree with u two,it doesn't make any sense looking for anymore strikers.

Seems like the media will say anything since United still have so much money from the Ronaldo transfer.

Yeah, I think the media really wanna right us off this season, but having been proved wrong so many times they don't wanna look foolish - so they are linking us with everybody out of the sheer disbelief that we're finished in the transfer market. Personally, I wouldn't be suprised to see a young DM (Kacar for example) brought in and that'll be it.
